Event: Lunch & Learn on Healthy Eating, New Guidelines & Tools Made Easy for Your Clients

Recent research suggests a mother’s diet prior to and during pregnancy may have irreversible, long-lasting negative health consequences for infants and children. Ill health effects such as obesity, elevated cholesterol, and uncontrolled blood sugars may occur as a result of diets high in fat, sugar, and sodium during pregnancy. As a result, healthy eating for women of childbearing ages becomes of heightened importance in the hopes of preventing chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease. Join us for a workshop focused on the tools and skills healthcare providers can use to assist patients in healthier eating habits. Topics covered will include the USDA “Plate Method”, becoming proficient in the basics of food label reading, and the use of motivational interviewing to help propel patients in the direction of healthier lifestyle behaviors.
